Last week I decided to play a writing game. The rules of the game were simple:
1. Participants wrote me a writing prompt. It could be anything - absolutely anything. From a word to a group of words, they could be a quote, a passage from the closest book to them, or something that someone said on TV.
Here were the results:
Nine in the afternoon - from Maria
I just fell off my baby dinosaur? - from Míryam
’Twas about seven o’clock at night, And the wind it blew with all its might, And the rain came pouring down, And the dark clouds seem’d to frown, And the Demon of the air seem’d to say- “I’ll blow down the Bridge of Tay. - from Brian
I've never been on a proper luxury boat before just my grandparents shitty boat in Norfolk. - from Catherine
Guitar, tomato & midnight - from Julia
A prisoner attempts to communicate with the outside world via Facebook writing prompts - from Ronan
Out here on the perimeter there are stars.... - from Ruth
I can’t find my shoes - from Sandra
The unseen elephant ruminated unherd ... (sic)- from Des
When you're lost in the rain in Juarez and it's Easter time, too! - Conor
She told me to do it!! - from Paul
And one bonus prompt which arrived slightly after the deadline, but we'll include it anyway:
Deepest frustration with life - from Jay
2. For every prompt, I now have to write a piece. The piece could be a novella or a haiku, and I can interpret it as literally or as abstractly as I choose, but I have to write something.
So, that's my promise. 12 pieces of writing. I'd really love it if you kept checking back in here to see how it's getting on. A little thumbs up or share on Facebook never hurts, if you like what I'm doing, and most of all:
Thanks for taking the time to check this out!
I have many more stories to tell...
Sean.
